About the University

The University of Windsor is a student-oriented, public university in Windsor, Canada. The University of Windsor was established in 1857 by the name Assumption College, this small liberal arts college was the original predecessor of the modern university. Essex College, Canterbury College, Iona College, and Holy Redeemer College came together in 1963 to incorporate a university; the University of Windsor. On July 1, 1963, the University of Windsor became southwestern Ontario’s first autonomous degree-granting institution.

An AACSB accredited university, Windsor University is one of the oldest universities in Canada. Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for 2022 gave the University of Windsor rankings in the range of 601-800. Windsor University was ranked in the range of 701-750 in 2022 in QS World University Rankings, meanwhile, in the QS World University Ranking 2023, the University of Windsor was ranked in the range of 751-800

The campus of Windsor University is located along the Detroit River. It is an urban campus covering 51 hectares in Windsor, Ontario. In 2012 a $112 million “Center for Engineering Innovation” was opened for students. The newly-built Aland Wildman Center for Creative Arts is adjacent to the Armouries and completes the arts precinct. The University of Windsor has nine faculties; Arts, Humanities, & Social Science, Law, Education, Nursing, Engineering, Business, Graduate Studies, Human Kinetics, and Science and offers 190 undergraduate programs and 65 and 6 professional programs. The University of Windsor has a special centre for its students called “EPICenter”. EPICentre is the hub for all entrepreneurial endeavours on the University of Windsor campus. This centre supports its students in their Entrepreneurship journey through tools, resources, mentorship and funding
